Hello!
Thoran is a coconut-based Kerala style recipe.
Today, we are going to make thoran using Sardine (Mathi).
You can use any other small fish too.
This is a really quick and easy dish to make.

Let’s get started.

Ingredients Sardine (Matthi) : 6 nos Green Chilli : 4 Coconut : 1 cup (grated) Ginger : 1/2 tsp (grated) Garlic : 3 small cloves Small Onion : 2 nos Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp Coconut Oil : 2 tsp Salt : to taste Malabar Tamarind (Kudampuli) : 1 piece Water : as required Curry Leaf : 1-2 stick

Preparation

Crush or coarsely grind (Use the pulse mode) together coconut, chilli, ginger, garlic and small onion in a mixer grinder.
Do not grind it into a paste.
Keep it aside.

In a pan (earthen pot preferably), cook the sardine and Malabar tamarind with some water.
Add salt and turmeric powder to it.
When it starts boiling, stir and cover the pot with a lid.
Lower the flame.

When the fish has been cooked completely, add the coconut mix and stir it well.

Add curry leaf and coconut oil, mix gently and keep it covered for sometime.

Your Mathi Thoran is ready to serve!!

Sardines are rich in vitamins and minerals. Sardines are also a natural source of marine omega-3 fatty acids, which may reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular disease.
